Advanced Diploma Course 2This course, ‘Early Child Development Practice, Programmes and Policies’ focuses on understanding and evaluating the influence of international and national ECD policies, appreciating the variety of early child development programme practices and develops an understanding the principles and dynamics of ECD intervention programming. Participants will consider assessment of needs for children, their families and community stakeholders in developing ECD strategies. Early identification and interventions for the promotion of optimal child development will be explored including, the role of nutrition and sensory stimulation via play in early learning and development. Strategies to increase caregivers's capacity to promote the healthy growth, development and early learning of their children will be considered in the context of local communities and culture. The specific needs of malnourished, developmentally delayed and disabled child will be reviewed. The development of integrated strategies will be considered under the guidance of existing policies and infrastructure to support early child development.
