Activities of the OL Team
Distance Education
Encourage and support AKU-IED faculty members to develop and offer distance learning courses through providing expert advice and services in the following areas:
- instructional design
- course design and production
- course review processes
- course delivery
- student learning
- instructional support for the course tutors
- conducting course evaluations and writing reports
eLearning
Encourage and support AKU-IED faculty members to use Information and Communications Technologies in teaching and learning such as through:
- organizing professional development sessions (workshops, seminars, individual and small group meetings etc)
- providing expert advice and guidance on the design, development, evaluation and implementation of eLearning
- conducting research on eLearning technologies and approaches available elsewhere that are suitable to the work of AKU-IED
- assisting faculty members in developing contextually appropriate multimedia resources to support academic and research activities at AKU-IED
- coordinating with various entities at AKU-IED (eg helpdesk, administration etc) to support the implementation of eLearning technologies and approaches across the programmes
Others
- Suggest improvements to the academic and administrative policies and procedures affecting the use of eLearning and distance education at the Institute
- Contribute to the development of distance education and eLearning initiatives across the university
