More tools to help you in your quest

The World Wide Web contains numerous tools to help you search for material that is not just text. So, if you're looking for a particular piece of music, video, an image, or sound, it is possible to find it on the web either by direct searching or by visiting specific web sites.

Some of the larger search engines provide separate search facilities for images and multimedia objects. Examples of this are the Google Image and Video search pages. Another useful place to begin a search for images is the Clip Art Searcher page.

There are also a few specialized sites that carry searchable collections of images and drawings that can be copied and used for free. Some of our favourites sites in this category include #1 Free Clip Art and Discovery Channel's DiscoverySchool Clip Art Gallery.

These tools offer you access to special resources that you can use in various projects and even as teaching aids. To search for more general information on the web, you will, of course, have to use regular web search engines. The role of search engines and other tools are described in the Starting your Quest.
