Searching the World Wide Web

Our Favorite Invisible Web Database

Apart from the pages indexed by regular web search engines, a significant amount of information on the World Wide Web exists in the form of databases and information stores. These resources are sometimes referred to as "the Invisible Web" simply because regular search engines are unable to access them.

A number of useful pages that point to or search through the Invisible Web exist and our favourite is Complete Planet. Information on other web search tools can be found on the Starting your Quest.

The Complete Planet

The Complete Planet searches through up to 40,000 databases on the Web. It also provides a categorized link similar to the way Web Directories do--these links usually take you straight to the database search pages of the relevant websites.

Remember!

Invisible Web Databases offer links to very focused areas. You may have better results starting your quest with the more general search and meta-search engines before investigating the Invisible Web Database resources.
